LOMGroup is sponsoring Katowice Climate Change Conference – December 2018

December 10, 2018

Katowice

"Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals through Climate Action is a necessity for all of us" said Tom Zengin today in Katowice addressing the assembly of the Climate Change Conference of UNO.

Mr. Zengin further stated "Climate change presents the single biggest threat to sustainable development everywhere and its widespread, unprecedented impacts disproportionately burden the poorest and most vulnerable. The economic leaders have to lead here with courage and decisiveness.

Urgent action to halt climate change and deal with its impacts is integral to the successful implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We have to pursue them.

Collectively, the three post-2015 agendas for action – the Paris Agreement, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction - provide the foundation for sustainable, low-carbon and resilient development under a changing climate.

Achieving the primary goal of the Paris Agreement - to keep the average global temperature rise well below 2C degrees and as close as possible to 1.5C above pre-industrial levels - is vital to the achievement of all three Agendas.

The global average temperature has already increased by around one degree, since then underlining the urgency of action if we are to stay as close as possible to 1.5C degrees.

The Paris Agreement builds on the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, bringing all nations into a common cause to reduce greenhouse gas emissions rapidly and to strengthen the ability of countries to build resilience and adapt to the impacts of climate change, including through ensuring adequate support for developing countries.

The early entry into force of the Paris Agreement reflects a political shift in focus to implementation, signalling to all levels of government, business and civil society that urgent climate action and sustainable development are common goals, providing a clear focus for policy, economic development and society.

Pursuing climate action and sustainable development in an integrated and coherent way offers the strongest approach to enable countries and their economies to achieve their objectives efficiently and quickly under the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development."

"We Believe In The Capabilities And Traditionel Western Orientation Of Turkey"

November 02, 2018

Dusseldorf

"Turkey has many inherent capabilities and a native open-minded prowess to defend its economy and Western orientated future" said today Tony Cianciosi, CEO of LOMGroup and Speaker of the Executive=Board in Dusseldorf adressing the staff of companies of the Group, which is originating from Turkey although its presence spreads in over more than 30 countries worldwide today.

Mr. Cianciosi further stated " Following a strong recovery in 2017 and turbulence in spring 2018, economic growth is set to slow but to stay around 2% in 2018 and 2019. The uncertainties surrounding regional geopolitical tensions, create for Turkey risks. The exchange rate remains still highly volatile, with the lira depreciating and recuperating substantially recently despite a significant increase in the policy interest rate, and consumer price inflation is far above target. Disinflation is projected to be slow.

A credible macroeconomic framework is of utmost importance to uphold confidence in this sensitive environment. The Medium-Term Economic Program provides a prudent fiscal framework, and recent monetary tightening should be backed with stronger institutional credibility of monetary policy. Structural reforms to align the business environment with international good practices should be stepped up as soon as possible to rebalance growth and make it more inclusive.

Turkey’s firm policy response to the recent financial shocks helped to restore confidence in financial assets. Inflation will remain the key concern in the short term on continuing pass-thru and high cost push factors. Both monetary and fiscal policies included in the New Economic Program are now more adequate to restore confidence and re-balance the economy.

We are hopeful that the government will remain resolute to implement a strict fiscal policy announced despite the municipality elections ahead and the CB will sustain its sovereignty further.

Turkey has many positive key factors such as the highest tourism income of last 15 years in 2018, a dynamic population and geostrategic importance along with the fact that Turkey remains the only country being not in war compared to its 7 neighboring countries and one of the 2 democracies in Middle-East, as well as the truth that it is since 1952 a reliable NATO-partner saving Europe as a bulwark from the unfortunate developments evolving in Syria and other Arabic countries. We are firm that Turkey will march straight ahead on the pass designed by Ataturk to modernity and Western values with success. EU should soonest accept Turkey’s entry as a full member finally to wield a positive role in the route of Turkey. We, as LOMGroup, believe unwaveringly that Turkey will succesfully defend its place in Western world, maintaining its secularistic values.”
